David Aromokeye, Ph.D
David works as a Blue Economy Specialist at the World Bank Group. His work focuses on helping countries around the world better utilize their marine resources in the most sustainable and economically rewarding way. Having grown up in Lagos, he studied Microbiology for his bachelor’s at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Following brief stints at Unilever Nigeria, and at Access Bank Plc, he moved to Germany for graduate school. There, he attended Friedrich Schiller University Jena for his master’s in Environmental microbiology and the University of Bremen where he earned his Ph.D. in Marine Microbiology and Biogeochemistry.
During his time in active academic research, he sailed on several scientific expeditions to various marine environments around the world including the Antarctic Peninsula. David has published several high-ranking journal articles in the marine environment research field and continues to contribute to advancing the frontiers of marine biogeochemistry research. Outside of work, David enjoys football, discovering new places, and watching movies. David volunteers is a volunteer member.
